The Presidents Cup, an International team match-play competition featuring twenty four of the world’s top golfers – twelve from the United States and twelve from around the world, it is held every two years, and since 1996 has alternated between United States and international venues.
Outside of the four majors, the Presidents Cup is one of the most highly anticipated golf events in the world. The format of the tournament is a combination of singles and doubles matches, with each match - irrespective of whether it’s a singles or doubles match - worth one point to the victor, whilst a draw sees both teams accrue half a point. The number of matches played has varied slightly from year to year, however there will be somewhere between 30 and 34 points up for grabs at the 2019 Presidents Cup.
The 2019 Presidents Cup will be the 13th edition of the tournament, and the third time the event has been staged in Melbourne, having previously been held there in 1998 (the only occasion in which the International team has triumphed) and 2011 . More specifically though, the 2019 Presidents Cup will once again be hosted by the stunning 36-hole The Royal Melbourne Golf Club – rated as the sixth best course in the world by Golf Digest in 2016.
